Comprehensive geotechnical testing capabilities at our integrated laboratory
RSK has the first fully accredited integrated geoenvironmental laboratory in Iraq. The laboratory, in Iraq Energy City near Basra, gained accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 in 2015 and provides geotechnical, geomaterials and environmental chemical testing services for a range of projects.
At the laboratory, we offer extensive capabilities for comprehensive soil and rock testing programmes, including the full soil classification suite and strength, compaction, direct shear, consolidation and triaxial testing. The environmental side of the laboratory has qualified chemists supporting soil and groundwater studies and land remediation verification testing. We also maintain a strong commitment to the local community, with over two-thirds of our laboratory team being local Iraqi nationals, many of whom are graduates from the University of Basrah.
In the last year alone, we completed and reported more than 14,000 geotechnical tests for Shell’s Majnoon oilfield project in Iraq.
