Fergus Collie, RSK’s Middle East managing director and project director for work in Majnoon field, received the award on behalf of RSK. He says, “I am delighted that the award recognises the commitment of RSK staff to the Shell and RSK safety ethos, so continues to build and strengthen that relationship, and, importantly, that this milestone marks 1000 days when all our staff have returned home (or to their oilfield cabins) safe and well. Our geotechnical and environmental services projects in Majnoon field often involve potentially hazardous tasks, including drilling more than 100 boreholes to a total depth of 3 km, carrying out 400 cone penetration tests to a total depth of 9 km and undertaking 18,000 geotechnical laboratory tests. This award illustrates the safety mindset, common purpose and dedication of all of the people who have contributed so well to our work in Majnoon field.”
Dr Alan Ryder, RSK Group chief executive officer adds, “This award from Shell is very much appreciated, and recognises the huge effort that has gone into safety management by our team in Majnoon field. The work we do is physically challenging, even more so in the very hot conditions of an Iraqi summer. Hearty congratulations to the whole team for doing so well.”
